Five on Friday: Thanksgiving

I cannot believe it's less than a week until Thanksgiving! This week, this month, this year has flown by! Here are my five:

One: Sweet Potato Soufflé
A few years ago, my Husband's friend Chelsea had a gorgeous cooking blog: Sprinkles of Parsley . She has not blogged in a few years however her recipes remain posted and I truly think she should get back to it! This Sweet Potato Soufflé is out of this world good. I made it the first time she posted her family recipe in 2010 and every year since then. My family members request it and last year I doubled it! Add this to your table for the holidays and check out the rest of her recipes while you're there...maybe we can get her to start blogging again!

Two: The root of joy...
I am so incredibly grateful to be celebrating our first married Thanksgiving with my Husband, D!

I love celebrating the holidays with our families. I come from a pretty big extended family as my parents are each one of 5. The holidays have always been a full house and so much fun!
Someday D and I will host the holidays but for now he and I make it a point to split the day between our families. It's a lot, and sometimes we huff and puff about how hectic it is but, reality check- we are so fortunate to have our families, to have families that for the most part live in the same state not to mention within driving distance of one another. We are blessed to be surrounded by our loved ones and because of our marriage earlier this year our families have united & grown...we have so much more to celebrate. And for that, I am truly so grateful. #heartoverflowing

Three: Thanksgiving Décor
I can't get enough of these adorable hosting/decorating ideas from Emily at Cupcakes and Cashmere. I read that she is coming out with a home décor and entertaining book in 2015...if this is just a preview of what's to come, I can't wait!

I'll count this as Four and Five: Hostess Gifts
Since I do not host the holidays yet (I truly cannot wait for the day I do!), I love to bring a little something to the door.

monogram wine stopper & their favorite vino might just be the perfect pair! C.Wonder has great gifts!

I love this personalized pillow as a gift I found on Etsy. Especially if your hostess has just moved into a new home!

I had no idea that Pottery Barn sold live plants but I love this red amaryllis plant as a gift. So pretty!

If you know their scent-style or if you want to share your favorite these Voluspa candles from Anthropologie are the best. Every time I walk into an Anthro store I want my house to smell just like it, the stacks of Voluspa candles must be their secret.

Have a fantastic weekend full of Thanksgiving-day-prep and love!

A Few of My Favorite Things Link-Up: My List

A few of my favorite things link-up My Wish list

A few of my favorite things link-up My Wish list by theseasaltedblonde

I am late to the link-up party with Cheers Y'all and Down with the Dearmores but still wanted to join!
I live for Christmas shopping, wrapping, and most of all giving gifts to those I love! Isn't it the best feeling? It was so fun to add a Christmas list of my own this time!
I became a Mrs this year and I want my new monogram on everything! Which is why I love items 1 & 2. Monogram necklace from Bauble Bar a classic keepsake. How great are these Monogrammed Tortoise Sunglasses?!
#3 Do these over-the-knee Vince Camuto Boots even need an explanation?! Still searching for my size though...if you spot a 7.5 anywhere let me know!! #4 Canon EOS Rebel T1i As much as I love Instagram and my iphone pics I'd love to capture photos on this. #5 This Tory Burch Tote is tailored and timeless. I've been looking for an "everything" bag and I'm pretty sure this would get a lot of use.

I can't wait for the next installment of These Are a Few of My Favorite Things link-up on Tuesday.
Brown paper packages tied up with strings.... now I'll be singing it for days!

Frosting

Frosting

Frosting by theseasaltedblonde
While picking out jewelry does anyone else ever think of the line from How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days-
"Ladies of New York, frost yourselves!"
No? Just me?!
Anywhooo...I am head over heels for all of these pieces. Two of these items I own: The J. Crew earrings and the Kiel James Patrick anchor bracelet, so believe me when I say you need these!! The earrings were actually my wedding earrings and then became my sister's something borrowed as she wore them for her wedding. They are the perfect amount of sparkle and I cannot wait to wear them again over the holidays. My husband gifted me with the KJP Golden Royal's Fleet, I wear it with practically everything! Adding the rest to my wish list! Click on the image for links to all of these pretties. You really cannot go wrong wearing any of these baubles...get frosted!

Rustic & Whimsy::: Holiday Decor from H&M

Rustic Holiday Decor from H&M

Rustic Holiday Decor from H&M by theseasaltedblonde featuring H&M

If I didn't know better, I would think these whimsy, rustic pieces were from Anthropologie, West Elm, Pottery Barn or the like. I cannot get over the H&M Home line. These are just a few of their really great pieces at really low price points. They would make the perfect hostess gift....orrrr a quick gift to yourself to update your own holiday décor. My favorites are the pillow cases and the Santa napkins- so fun, I had to share!!! Are you taking out your holiday décor this weekend?!

Five on Friday

Hooray! My first link-up!
I'm looking forward to this weekend! Big plans of staying home with my Husband...we've been running around like crazy and it will be nice to stay put & r e l a x. Date night, movie watching by the fire, taking the pup to the beach, possible Christmas decorating and visiting friends who just moved out of NYC to suburbia are on the to-do list! C o z y is the word on my mind right now.

One
B Side Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2009

Last weekend my parents took us out to dinner at an amazing Italian restaurant in Massachusetts. I ordered this glass of wine and it.was.so.good. For me to finish an entire glass of wine is a joke among my family...my husband will adoringly call me "two sips" as I never finish a glass with my meal. Anywhoo, I will be hunting down a bottle of B Side Cab this weekend and I will be finishing a glass or two. What's more cozy than a glass of wine by the fire?
B Side's description: "Our 2009 B Side has rich aromas of dark cherry, caramel, toasted marshmallow and white pepper. Sourced from Rutherford and Stags Leap, this wine has an intensity of fruit flavor on the palate, beginning with black currant and dark plum and evolving into dark chocolate and cappuccino. Dried dark fruit and smoky oak nuances come through on the mid-palate, revealing additional layers of depth. The finish is rich with big, mouth-filling tannins and a firm core of high quality French oak."
Is your mouth watering yet?

Two
Spectacles
I somehow lost my glasses Monday night. Pretty sure they're in the parking lot of Trader Joe's and no longer in one piece. It was a blessing in disuse apparently as I have not had an eye exam since 2007. eeeek. Clearly I've been in denial of needing them...I only had to wear them for driving/distance. Well that was 6 years ago and I should've known as I've been squinting at our TV shows, unable to make out familiar faces while grocery shopping (they were wayyy down the end of the aisle) and slyly taking out my glasses in the movie theater for longer than I'd like to admit. I sulked a little when my new prescription was stronger as well as to wear them all day everyday. Are you sure they're not just for distance?
I 'm scheduled to pick them up tonight and am already singing "I can see clearly nowww..." in my head.

Three
Cold Hands Warm Heart
This Kate Spade mug is on my wishlist...along with these polka-dot C.Wonder hat & gloves and cashmere J. Crew scarf. CuteCuteCozy&Cute.

Baxter
Meet Baxter. Our 3-year-old fur-child has cozy down to a science. Baxter is the sweetest, snuggliest (new word) French Bulldog. I have way too many pictures of him on my phone so why not share his cute face?

Tea and Warm Socks

Tea & Warm Socks

Tea & Warm Socks by theseasaltedblonde

With the first snow fall of the season gracing Connecticut yesterday and today's frigid cold snap, all I want to do is curl up with a good book in a cozy nook. Some essentials to warm up:
These gorgeous Restoration Hardware faux fur throws are beyond soft. I stayed at my parents this past weekend and my Mom has the throw in wolf ...it took all I had not to stay snuggled in it all Sunday morning. #coldweathermusthave This gold and white Ikat Tea for One is on sale now at C. Wonder...perfect for my cup of Tazo Chai seeing as I'm the only tea drinker in our house. Speaking of tea, how adorable is this All You Need is Tea & Warm Socks pillow . Love!
So, I'll be stealing my husband's sweater , slipping into a new pair of UGG slippers, & reading my favorite books every chance I get this winter! What are your cold weather must haves?!

A Polished Print

I have been eyeing this Anthropologie Leopardo Sweater Dress for a few weeks now. I love how they styled it with the white shirt and floppy hat. Cozy and polished.
I must admit that there was a time when I despised leopard print anything. Lately I've incorporated it in small doses -  a scarf, this belt, these flats...now that I've seen that the spots refuse to fade through the seasons and read that Jenna Lyons (style idol) declared leopard a neutral...I think I'm ready to make a bigger commitment to the print.

What are your thoughts on leopard?!

Luxe be a Lady

I am loving capes for the fall...especially since these past few weeks have been pretty warm for Connecticut this time of year. This gorgeous cape is at an amazing price point ($80!) and paired with these classic pieces it easily creates a timeless, chic & ladylike look.

Hello!

Welcome to The Sea Salted Blonde!
I'm a 29-year-old newlywed who has loved fashion since I was little girl playing dress up. My mom was, and still is, my first style icon. In my teens I poured over fashion magazines and made hundreds of outfit inspiration collages, the original Pinterest! Now I still flip through magazines but blogs are a huge inspiration to me. I'm excited to finally put together my own blog as a creative outlet for my personal style.
I'm a born and raised Connecticut girl...recently married to the love of my life...I'm sure you'll be seeing his handsome face around here. I'm mom to Baxter the sweetest French Bulldog you'll ever meet. I cherish my family & friends deeply and feel so very blessed to have them.
In a nutshell: I'm a believer in classic & timeless style, a bookworm, yogi-in-training, green juice drinking, coffee snob, self-proclaimed foodie, lover of all things New England and of course- anything coastal. Here I go, dipping my toes into the waters of blogging, join me!
